Interesting. I haven't kept track of my harvest for a few years now, but decided to weight the apples and pears. I currently have about 10 crates in the shed and each weights around 15 kg when full, so a back of the napkin calculation sees me breaking even with the #allotment rent this year. Of course there are the persimmons, early apple and pears, grapes, mulberries, cherries and soft fruits on top, so not too bad a year, but hardly covers the previous ones when the plants were still growing.
Just finished entering the data for week # four of this season's Project Feeder Watch.
The data may be viewed here:
https://data.feederwatch.org/pfw/count/summary?id=S285996850
We had 19 species and 124 individuals this week, including a rare sighting of a Northern Flicker. The Red-Winged Blackbirds have gone, but the Grackles are back in lower numbers. The Red Shouldered Hawk is still hanging around making everyone nervous. Still one chipmunk stocking up on seed.

Great FREE RANGE in our nature garden today!
Wellingborough Eco Group Nature Rangers
This time we were at our Community Allotment as we are every four weeks 10am to 2pm. We installed a bath tub pond, created some frames for ivy to grow up and we cleared leaves on the path in the copse behind our plot, where we also added somewood chips to stop it being slippery. It's starting to look great, well done and thank you all!

Not one but two #allotment postcards today! Catching us up to November 9th.
Harvesting potatoes, planting garlic.
I am now a convert to just sticking potatoes in the ground. The yields! We have been tub potato growers for years, but due to a lack of space. We stuck with it, but having just plugged them into the ground this year and let them done their thing, almost entirely hands-off, I don't think I can go back to bothering with tubs again (unless forced by circumstance of course.)
Ah, what's that... an #allotment postcard video? From over a month ago?
LOL... eh, mucking with quinces to make preserves, leaf moulding, some polytunnel clearance, and generally under-achieving.
The seed catalogs have started to arrive (seems early to me) and at least one of the companies might have a wrong idea about just how big my garden might be. Either that, or I am under estimating costs this year...

Two months ago I chucked down mustard, field beans, forage peas, lupins, phacelia and vetch seed as green manure. The first pic is of it three weeks ago and it had gotten much taller since with the mustard and beans in flower.
Today I decided to chop it back to dig it in so the mustard can breakdown in the ground. I had to clear my leeks because of leaf miner. Dug up the last of my desiree spuds. Still need to take my runner beans down. Will plant broad beans and field beans soon #allotment
This year I stuck in some catmint I grew from freebie seed, mostly for the bees. Yesterday I had two cat visitors in the hour I was at the plot huffing the smallest of the plants #allotment #gardening
I came back from my travels yesterday evening and did a quick trip to the allotment to check things were fairing okay. The snapdragons are back in bloom and my August-sown calendula plants are coming into flower. Made a couple of posies for the mantelpiece.
I’ve spent quite a while collecting and sorting seeds to give away to allotment neighbours. I do a lot of swaps with friends already but it’s hard to reach people on site that might appreciate them.
So this is my solution: bunging ‘em in the meeting shed and writing signs all over the site to tell people they’re there. (Including pedantic info about the tape because some people like to kick off at anything.)
It’s nice to be nice #allotment
A lot of the plot is still going strong. I’ve been clearing some areas but a lot of stuff is still going including tomatoes and peppers.
I gave up weeding in any meaningful way as I was expecting things to start dying back and I would have to prepare beds for winter anyhow.
Started digging over a new bit at the front of the new left half (covered in blue tarp in 4th photo). Eventually I’ll have matching rows on either side of lavender and dahlias #allotment
The dahlias are still kicking and the rose is on it’s third flowering #allotment #bloomscrolling
Having a coffee break with giant acorns raining down around me. Not just a good year for fruit trees #allotment
Also, newly repainted table top with an aldi-special paint. So I’m the proud owner of a lavender table and a pink shed
These have been in the house a few days now but I really love the dahlia in the middle. All my dahlias are grown from seed so I have no idea what they’ll look like until they bloom. This is a new one from this year to add to the collection #allotment #bloomscrolling
Spotted some mushrooms in a hedgerow and I pulled my first “winter” leeks. Very seasonal #allotment
I’ve had a high octane evening sorting through my remaining #allotment shallots. I’ve been eating the biggest ones over the summer and I want to pickle some of the small to medium sized ones. The smallest ones are getting saved to be planted next year.
Feel proud of them all laid out #growyourown
I mistimed visiting the allotment to water the greenhouse raised beds earlier, hid in the greenhouse watching until it eased off #allotment
