Daily Haiku Prompt for 17 March: sardine (South)
shallow seas welcome
the cast net but return none
of summer's sardines
Daily Haiku Prompt for 17 March: crocus (North)
close to the ground and
closed to overcast grey skies,
the nymph forgotten
Notes
In one telling, Crocus (Krokus) was changed to the plant that bears his name after dying of unrequited love for a nymph, Smilax, who became the thorny bindweed, but few remember her story.
Daily Haiku Prompt for 16 March: willows (South)
willow do not weep:
those yellowed leaves swept downstream
will be buds in Spring
Daily Haiku Prompt for 16 March: gusty (North)
bicycle wobbles
under an unsteady load
buffeted by wind
Daily Haiku Prompt for 15 March: pumpkin (South)
hidden beneath broad
dark-green parasol leaves lies
an autumn harvest
Daily Haiku Prompt for 15 March: nirvana (North)

fresh tendrils unfurl,
gently shrugging off the soil -
still cold, but rising
Kigo: 余寒 (yokan) - still cold
from my sick window
a cloud passes, as time does
our silent wind chimes
snapping open wings -
the cry of wild geese
transcends horizons
Kigo: 雁金 (karigane) - cry of wild geese
Caution (when abroad)
means Americans claiming
they're Canadian.
Summer shrugs,
raises an eyebrow:
sudden rain.

Lies make great TV.
But not watching cuts ratings.
So don't fucking watch.
