What are nurdles? A ‘sheen’ of plastic pellets is spotted in the North Sea after ship crash.

Small pellets of plastic are washing up on the east coast of England following the fiery collision of two ships in the North Sea last week.

Although not toxic, these nurdles present a deadly risk to wildlife if ingested.

I'm a couple of fields away from home, at the next farm, an easy walk to get to where I'm repairing a wall.

For about a week now, a flock of starling several hundred strong has been feeding on the soft wet soil. They're constantly on the move, covering two or three miles up and down the dale each day. They've just spotted me so they're off again.

There's also good numbers of Lapwing and Curlew on the wing and calling.

A rare population of leucistic, or partially white, purple-faced langurs near Sri Lanka’s Sinharaja Forest Reserve has attracted ecotourism interest, even as monkeys in general are perceived by farmers as crop-raiding pests.

Unlike albinism, leucism causes a partial loss of pigmentation, and researchers have documented around 30 white langurs in the area.
